Ringtraining 28th february 2022
Goal for today: Calm down! Thor should stand relaxed on the leash. Goal achieved! It went much better. We tried very hard to take Thor’s nervousness away. He was always allowed to go outside and get some fresh air. And there were fewer and calmer dogs today. There were even bitches in heat, but he was still able to concentrate, exercises that he is really good at help him with that. (Controlled) brisk walking on a leash still needs to be practiced.
Ringtraining 21th february 2022
As the only Smooth Collie male in ring training, Thor was the first time ever with so many dogs in such a small room – and we too. He was terribly nervous and insecure – and we too. So I decided that my daughter has to do the “show-job” next time, because she is much more relaxed in such situations, while I will do the “dog school-job”. First time in the ring it didn’t work so well; all the bitches around were much more interesting than “standing still” and “running in circles”. But with a little bit more training and practice, we hope that we can concentrate and work well together with him. Nevertheless, we were able to concentrate for a few quiet seconds
